About the Maker: Sori Yanagi
A prolific designer of the post-war era in Japan, Sori Yanagi is widely known for his simplistic beautiful homewares and furniture. He is widely successful with balancing practicality, utility, and incorporating traditional Japanese craft techniques. He studied both art and architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Japan (currently Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music). He also designed the torch holder and the seats in the stadium for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 1964. We deeply admire his philosophy of the simple beauty found within everyday utilitarian objects. He founded the Yanagi Design Institute in 1950 where he continued to pursue a prolific number of designs in objects and furniture. These pieces have long-lived past his legacy and we are so honored to bring this collection to Three Bales Home Supply.
