Tosaryu

Founded in 1960, the woodworkers of Tosaryu wanted to honor the forests and lakes of the surrounding nature in the mountains of Kochi, Japan. Their production and process includes careful use of local resources and processing the material through their own hands. They have mastered their skills working with Japanese Hinoki by drying the wood for 3 to 6 months before using it. This maintains the oil-rich, sturdy body of Hinoki so it can be made into many varying objects.
