About the Maker -

In Virginia, Joel and his family have chosen a homesteading life, one that was the same upbringing he had as a child. It taught him the value of working with his hands and finding a whole way of life rooted in the land. Living in the Moccasin Ridge area he has a small farm with milking cows, ponies, chickens and an extensive garden. His wife and children help grow, harvest, and preserve the majority of their food. Joel learned traditional pole lathing from a master craftsman from his childhood community and continues to create handmade quality kitchen tools with the wide source of hardwoods grown on his plot of land. He carefully sands and finishes each piece with a food-safe spoon butter.
